The CARD Steering Committee met on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the McKechnie Family LIFE Home. CARD Steering Committee members, Deana McDonagh, Ph.D., Michael Lotspeich-Yadao, Ph.D., Laura Mattie, Ph.D. were joined by new Steering Committee members, Mel Liong, Program Director at PACE, Inc. Center for Independent Living, Jodie Harmon, Vice President of Development & Communications, Developmental Service Center (DSC) , and Valerie Driscoll-Kirk, Program Coordinator, Champaign-Urbana MS Support Group (Emily Tarconish, Ph.D., Matt Hanks, Ph.D., Danielle Matthews, Chief Executive Officer, DSC, Colleen Hoerner, Alyx Bibbs, University of Illinois Student Representative were unable to attend.) They were joined by Laura Rice, CARD Director, Carrie Wennerdahl, CARD Coordinator, and Jeff Woods, Ph.D., Ex Officio, to talk about CARD activities and initiatives while offering feedback and guidance. After an introduction to CARD, Steering Committee members reviewed and discussed topics on the CARD Toolkit for the website, student research engagement, community collaborations, and a competitive program to supplement research. The meeting was productive providing the CARD team with many ideas for current and future endeavors. The next CARD Steering Committee meeting will be held in Spring 2025.
